The Herakles storm lantern is captivating with its particularly clear simplicity in well-balanced proportions. The metal base is made in a sandcasting process, meticulously polished by hand in several work steps and then patinated. The glass cylinder is mouth-blown and shows traces of this handcrafting process in the form of tiny air bubbles and streaks, which differentiates it from industrial products. Melted wax can be easily removed with warm water and dishwashing liquid, which is best done by hand. Large glass containers can burst in the dishwasher. Herakles should not be exposed to moisture for any length of time, as this would damage the surface.
