Myako vessel ceramic

Making ceramic pots is one of the oldest handcrafting techniques known to mankind, and has remained almost unchanged for thousands of years. To this day, pots and vases are still being made in a more or less similar process. The Myako vases are poured from fine ceramics and high-fired and then finished by hand with a metallic reactive glaze. The reactive glaze produces surface effects during firing that are different in every piece. It also produces tiny inclusions and colour variegations, which are characteristic of this glazing technique. This gives each workpiece its own unmistakable character, turning it into a unique piece. As ceramics can sweat through the bottom after being washed, it is advisable to use a coaster on sensitive tabletops.
