Osaka lanterns could have their origin in ancient Japan, yet are small masterpieces of contemporary handcrafting. One of our manufactories has been making small works of wire art for Lambert for years. Sturdy metal wire is cut to size and pieced together to form this objet d’art. To protect its surface, it is varnished black on the outside and gold on the inside. This creates special highlights when a candle is lit. The Osaka lantern should not be exposed to the elements for any length of time, as it could corrode. Wax residue can easily be removed with warm water. Sharp objects and abrasive sponges will scratch the surface and should not be used.
