Siddharta is made in a traditional sand-casting process and shows clear traces of this archaic technique. The surface structure was inspired by the cross-cut of a giant, ancient tree with its annual growth rings. The design is first carved by hand in wax before being transferred to the sand-casting mould. The veining and irregularities are coincidental and different in every piece and radiate a very special charm. After the form is removed from the sand and lightly polished, the dish is carefully patinated by hand. The dish should be cleaned only with warm water, a soft cloth and a bit of dishwashing liquid. Acids from fruit and juice can leave spots on the surface and must be wiped off immediately.
