The egg as a symbol of fertility is not only indispensable in European countries and in Christian traditions but also in other cultures such as China, where it stands for new beginnings, in the Jewish Passover and the Iranian Nowruz celebration. Thanks to their perfect shape and pleasant haptic feel, eggs are often used as palm stones or are placed on a desk as a decorative paperweight. With such a wide variety, they make popular collector’s items. Faraona is made from synthetic resin poured into a two-piece mould, the aluminium rings are pressed into the material by hand while the resin is still hot, then the surface is meticulously polished and dyed by hand. The visible line between the two moulded parts is a mark of this handcrafting process. Tiny pinpoint pores and irregularities are inevitable traces of this extraordinary production technique and reflect its handcrafted character.
