Storage cabinets date back to the Ming dynasty and were built for keeping special treasures safe. Perched prominently on their own frames, they always stood apart from the normal furniture. Loft was inspired by such iconic role models. The surface is covered in fine metal sheeting, which is applied by hand and affixed with tiny studs. The bronze colouring is the result of a patina that is also applied by hand. The leg frame and handles of the cupboard are made of handcast iron. As metal surfaces can easily absorb heat, the cupboard should not, if possible, stand in direct sunlight or too close to a heater. Fluctuations in temperature or humidity in the room could otherwise cause blisters to form on the surface. Such blisters can disappear again the same way.
